How COVID-19 Sparked My Journey Toward Digital Business Mastery
As a storyteller who has focused on impact stories, I had long prioritized the right side of my brain, my lived experience, and my technical expertise in solving work challenges. However, the COVID-19 pandemic served as a catalyst for change, prompting me to embrace a proactive approach to the future and channel my passion for understanding digital business. It became evident that I required more than creative tools to navigate the evolving business landscape and enhance my strategic capabilities.
Reimagining The Future
Upon commencing my MSc in Digital Business at Salford University, I was immediately captivated by the relevance and practicality of the course materials. The foundational module on Digital Business provided a comprehensive exploration of technological evolution, equipping me with a scientific understanding of how people embrace technologies. This knowledge enabled me to gain valuable insights into emerging technologies and frameworks to consider when adapting them. (I still believe everybody was guessing what the new normal would be)
Understanding Technological Evolution Through Digital Business Modules
Subsequent modules, such as “Information Systems and Digital Transformation,” delved into the underlying mechanisms of technologies, particularly in the context of automation within e-commerce. This course served as an exemplary guide in designing efficient and optimized digital workflows.
It became evident that my shortcomings lay not in the acquisition of creative tools or the refinement of my work, but rather in navigating the intricate dynamics of this novel environment.
Beyond challenging my comfort zone, Search & Social Media Marketing provided me with valuable philosophies and tools that enable me to effectively reach both local and global audiences.
Balancing Creativity and Strategy: A New Perspective on Problem-Solving
It has been enriching to collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds and have the freedom to challenge professors who are both academic and industry practitioners. It is refreshing to have them reference recent projects that they have contributed to. Now, with a balanced left and right brain, I look forward to my last module, empowered to solve problems that do not yet exist.
